Cozy MMO Palia is gearing up for its open beta in August. After undergoing smaller closed beta tests, the game is ready to welcome a wave of players into its world on August 10. Prior to that, a short closed beta will commence a week earlier.
Palia distinguishes itself from traditional MMOs by focusing on life simulation and social activities such as farming, fishing, cooking, hunting, crafting, and decorating houses. Singularity 6 game director Aidan Karabaich expresses excitement about challenging genre conventions and fostering new friendships within the cozy MMO.
Singularity 6 has shared details about Palia’s monetization (free-to-play with cosmetic sales), combat (absent), and storyline during development. Palia aims to capture the essence of small-scale activities like player housing and gathering, making them the core gameplay elements. It offers a unique experience for players seeking a cozy gaming environment.
When Does the MMO Palia Open Beta Begins
Open beta for MMO Palia begins on August 10, with registration available on the game’s website. Those interested can also sign up for the closed beta week, with rolling admissions starting on August 2. Progress made during the closed beta will carry over to the open beta and beyond, ensuring no progress resets between phases.
To provide a sneak peek at gameplay, the developers have scheduled a livestream on Tuesday, July 18 at 10 am Pacific on YouTube. While the full launch date is yet to be announced, Palia has confirmed plans for a Nintendo Switch release during the holiday season.
